NIDEC-SHIMPO Juried Ramen Bowl Show

NIDEC-SHIMPO CERAMICS is looking for ramen bowls to showcase in our booth at the 2019 NCECA in Minneapolis, MN.  Twenty ramen bowls will be selected for exhibit in the NIDEC-SHIMPO Booth where three winners will be announced!



About the Juror
Ki Cho is the founder of Echo Ceramics studio in Los Angeles, California. He was studying architecture when he discovered his love for ceramics. He changed his major and has been exploring ceramic art ever since, eventually developing his own method of teaching, which Echo Ceramics is known for.

Ki teaches intermediate classes and is a driving force behind the Echo Ceramics community. His excellent input has helped hundreds of potters and sculptors reach their goals.



There will be three prizes awarded for:

Best of Show – VL-Lite
1st Runner Up – 22LC Banding Wheel
2nd Runner Up – Hand Extruder with Dies

This call is open to any ceramic artist 18 years or older, living in the Continental US and Canada.
Artists can submit 1 to 3 images of ramen bowls created in the last three years. Ramen bowls should be around 8 ½ inch wide by 4 inch tall.

Entry Fee
There is NO fee to enter this call.

Entry Requirements
All images sent must be in JPEG format, at 300 dpi (minimum 1000 pixel on the shorter side, minimum file size, 1.0 MB, Maximum 4.0 MB per image if emailed). Each image must be titled with the artist’s LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, ENTRY NUMBER, and “-D” if you including a Detail image.

Exhibition Dates: March 27th – 30th, 2019

Accepted Works to be delivered to NIDEC-SHIMPO by: February 15th, 2019
Best of Show and Runners Up Announcements: Wednesday, March 27th, 2019

Delivery and Return of Work
Please properly pack accepted work to be shipped. NIDEC- SHIMPO is not responsible for damaged pieces received. All shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the accepted artist, to and from NIDEC- SHIMPO. Please include a return shipping label with your accepted work. We will notify any artist who does not include return shipping at the end of NCECA. Any work that is not scheduled for pick up after notification will become a part of the NIDEC- SHIMPO Permanent Collection. Artists attending NCECA 2019, also have the option to pick up their work from NIDEC- SHIMPO at the end of the 3rd day.

Insurance and Liability
All work must be insured by the artist. NIDEC-SHIMPO will not insure responsibility for the pieces from delivery to return dates. NIDEC-SHIMPO is not responsible for work that arrives damaged. Artists will be notified if work arrives damaged.

Artist Agreement
All artists will be notified of the Juror’s decision by email by January 7th. All accepted work will remain with Nidec-Shimpo from when the work is received, through NCECA, up until the return date. Artist can pick up their accepted pieces at the end of the 3rd day of NCECA.

Rights and Reproduction
NIDEC-SHIMPO AMERICA CORP. reserves the right to use submitted images or to reproduce images for educational, and/or promotional purposes.
