For the past couple of years, Shimpo Ceramics has been providing wheel-throwing demonstrations across the country. We are proud to have a number of talented potters on our staff who demonstrate techniques of significance to their interests.

Yosuke Koizumi is a potter from Japan who joined the Shimpo team in Japan, after working as a production potter for two years in the pottery village of Shigaraki. Yosuke was instrumental in the development of the RK-Whisper potter’s wheel. He is quite a talented potter, a graduate of Tulane University, whose demonstrations focus on the spontaneity of Japanese pottery.

Karen Wise received her Bachelors Degree from Northeastern Illinois University where she majored in Art and Secondary education with an emphasis in studio ceramics. She currently teaches teen and adult ceramics at the Brickton Art Center in Park Ridge. Karen also continues to create her Native American influenced ceramics in her home and shows her work across the U.S.
